PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for sensing the obstacle of a vehicle are provided to allow the vehicle to park with safety. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for sensing the obstacle of a vehicle includes a sensor(20), a controller(30), a notification unit(40) and a display unit(50). The sensor(20) detects the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle and outputs the sensing signal generated based on the distance. The controller(30) outputs the alarm signal when the sensing signal outputted from the sensor(20) becomes below a predetermined value. The notification unit(40) notifies the alarm signal outputted from the controller(30) to outside. And, the display unit(50) displays the vehicle and the external obstacle.
