Resorcinol-formaldehyde resins

A process for the production of a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, comprising the steps of combining from about 0.6:1.0 to about 1.0:1.0 molar ratio of formaldehyde and an aqueous solution of resorcinol together in the presence of a sufficient amount of a pH adjustment chemical, wherein the amount of pH adjustment chemical is sufficient to adjust the pH such that the pH of the reaction mixture is less than about 5.0.
