PURPOSE: A method for controlling operation of air conditioner is provided to stably operate an air conditioner in a normal operation area by controlling a compressor and an electronic expansion valve even if a refrigerant is excessively put into the air conditioner or leaks. CONSTITUTION: A target evaporation temperature, a condensation temperature, and a target discharge superheat degree are set up according to an indoor temperature and an outdoor temperature(S1,S2). The set target evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, and target discharge superheat degree are compared with the current evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, and discharge superheat degree(S3,S4,S5,S7,S9). According to the result of the comparison, an operating frequency of a compressor and an open value and a control period of an electronic expansion valve are decided(S6,S8,S10).
