PURPOSE: A self-emitting element, a display panel, a display device, and a method for manufacturing a self-emitting element are provided to achieve improved efficiency of extraction of light and reduce the thickness of a display panel. CONSTITUTION: A self-emitting element comprises a light emitting layer interposed between electrodes, and which emits light by the voltage applied between the electrodes; a protective layer for covering the emitting side of the light emitting layer so as to form an interface with an external source, wherein the protective layer has a thickness for permitting the light emitted from the light emitting layer to be fully reflected at least once at the interface in the area of the light emitting layer; a reflective layer for covering the opposite side of the protective layer with respect to the light emitting layer; and an angle converting unit arranged around the light emitting layer, wherein the angle converting unit converts the direction of the light emitted from the light emitting layer and is propagating inside the protective layer such that the light incident on the interface has an angle lower than a threshold angle. |
