A polyolefin fiber for the reinforcement of products based on fibers and a hydraulic setting mass is treated with a size containing functional groups, to assist fiber formation and wettability by the hydraulic setting mass, and promote adhesion to the mass. Independent claims are included for (1) a fiber and hydraulic setting mass based product comprising the claimed fiber; (2) a method of making the product by preparing a mixture of hydraulic binder, fibers and water, filtering to form primary wet sheets, superposing a number of the primary sheets and drying; (3) a composition for a hydraulic material, especially a mortar comprising a hydraulic binder and the claimed fibers.
