PURPOSE: An optical disc regenerator is provided to sense an inserted disc and to prevent a wrong operation in a case that a power turns off while a disc is being inserted and then a power turns on. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises four optical sensors(821, 822, 823, 824). The third optical sensor(823), positioned within a radius of a small sized disc, checks whether there exists a disc in the system, and senses a withdrawal degree of a large sized disc. The fourth optical sensor(824) senses a withdrawal degree of a small sized disc. The first optical sensor(821), installed at a position opposite to the sensor(824), discriminates the disc kind. The second optical sensor(822), installed between the sensors(821, 824), senses an end of a small sized disc before the small sized disc gets contacted with a main roller.
