[Also in Division H1] A blast valve 38 for a gas blast electric switch has a generally cylindrical housing 70 with a constricted central portion 80 in which slides a valve member 83 co-operating with two fixed ring seals 105, 108 at either end of its travel. The tubular valve member 83 is attached by radial spokes 123, 126 to a contact operating rod 50 so that it moves between one seal 105 108 and the other during each movement to open or close the contacts, a blast of gas passing from a high-pressure reservoir 36 through openings 93, 110, the centre of member 83 and passages 64, 65 to the interrupter heads of the switch during each movement.</p> |
