PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a paging channel message of a mobile communication system is provided to increase transmission efficiency of an overhead message or an MDM(Mobile Directed Message) transmitted to a paging channel, thereby improving a receiving rate of a data burst message and a general page message. CONSTITUTION: A system sequentially transmits messages in an overhead message transmission cycle(S111). Whenever the messages are transmitted, the system calculates paging channel slot load rates of slots(S114). The system decides whether an MDM which is not transmitted among the transmitted messages exists(S117). If so, the system counts slot numbers(S120), and decides whether the transmitted messages reach a 3-slot cycle(S123). If so, the system calculates an average value by using the paging channel slot load rates(S126). The system calculates an average value of the counted slots during the 3-slot cycle(S129), and determines slots that transmits overhead messages, based on the average value of the slots and the average value of the load rates(S132). The system transmits the overhead messages to the determined slots(S135).
