PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable viewing device which enables a user to view television and is excellent in convenience. SOLUTION: The portable viewing device 2 to be a receiving side receives an e-mail, and a CPU 209 analyzes a program name, an area, a frequency, a broadcasting time, etc., on the basis of description in the mail. Then, the CPU 209 collates EPG (electronic program guide) information acquired in the own-device with the analyzed information to determine whether the same broadcasting exists. If the same broadcasting exists, necessary information is given to a tuner 230 to receive a program. If a program based on program information obtained by the received mail is broadcasted later, the user can select preprogrammed recording/preprogrammed viewing.
