PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress backlash of a gear for transporting an optical pickup by a simple structure. SOLUTION: A holder 18 on which an optical pickup body 16 is mounted is freely slidably held to guide shafts 14 and 15 by holding members 19 and 20, a supporting member 21 for housing the holding members 20 and 20 is mounted on the holder 18, a rack part 23 provided with a rack 22 on the side line is coupled to the supporting member 21 in an axial direction of the guide shaft 15 and in the direction crossing the axis so that it can move for a specified distance, and the supporting member 21 and the rack part 23 are urged by an urging means having a tension spring 31 for displacing the rack part 23 in the direction of side line where the rack 22 is provided by a prescribed elastic force. Thus, the backlash between the rack 22 and a pinion 24 is suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
