摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin and compact projection picture display device satisfying a condition on the arrangement of a relay optical system that space for the arrangement of a base plate is secured and a DMD incident angle and the utilization efficiency of light are excellent by setting the disposed position of a bar type integrator to be out of the optical path of a projected luminous flux between a projection lens and a total reflection prism and setting the bar type integrator and the projection lens to have specified positional relation. SOLUTION: Illuminating luminous flux which is emitted from a hybrid integrator 15 and whose flux density is uniform is totally reflected by the total reflection prism 21 through relay optical systems 18a and 18b and reflection mirrors 19a and 19b and radiated to a DMD 22. The reflected luminous flux optically modulated to be projected luminous flux by the DMD 22 is transmitted through the prism 21 and projected by the projection lens 24. The disposed position of the integrator 15 is out of the optical path of the projected luminous flux between the lens 24 and the prism 21, and is set so that the optical axis of the integrator 15 and the optical axis of the lens 24 exist in different parallel planes and are nearly orthogonally crossed when the luminous flux is projected to the parallel planes.
