The invention relates to a UV radiator of the mercury amalgam low pressure radiator type variety comprising a tubular, elongate radiator base body (3) and wherein the electric connections of the electrode arrangement (5) lead back via return lines (6,7), extending outside the radiator base body (3) on the fixing points of contacts (8,9) adjacent to the opposite-lying electrode device (4). A lower ignition voltage is obtained by virtue of the fact that one or two return lines (6,7) are longer than the shortest path from the fixing points (11) of the electrode arrangement (5) to the fixing points (12) of the contacts (8,9), whereby at least one of the return lines (6,7), when in a position of insertion, is at least partially distanced from the base body (3). |
