Addressing method for a data bus system with a twin wire bus to which units (4, 8, 8a) are connected. Each connected unit has a bus coupler with its own unit specific address. Each address sender has its own sender-specific sending address, whereby for each unit the sender address of the available address senders is assigned a defined sender index and a call address is sent based on the bus coupler unit address together with the sender index with the specific sender address omitted. The invention also relates to a corresponding data bus system.
