A valve pin actuating mechanism includes an actuator (38), a linkage element (36) rotatable by actuation of actuator and a stop (78) configured to engage a limit surface (80) to limit the rotation angle of linkage element. The linkage element is connected at least indirectly to (30) actuator at upstream connector and a valve pin at downstream connector. The stop and the limit surface are configured to engage mechanically upstream from the downstream connector.
