<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic lens, which can reduce burrs formed by cutting as much as possible and can be manufactured with a small number of manufacturing processes, and to provide an optical pickup device. <P>SOLUTION: The plastic lens 1 has a flange part 2 at the outer circumference of an optical surface and is manufactured by charging a resin in a metallic mold through a gate part 4. This plastic lens 1 is formed at an area of the part where the gate part 4 is provided with the metallic mold and has a plane 21 disposed inside a virtual outer circumferential surface 5.
