<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly perform patterning processing by generating intermediate codes for performing quick color space conversion processing in accordance with the kind and size of picture data inputted from a master device. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 1500 inputs picture data from a host computer 3000 through an input part 18 and generates intermediate codes for performing color space conversion processing by a color space conversion part 30 which is high-speed hardware or generates intermediate codes for performing color space conversion processing by software in accordance with the kind, the size and the number of the inputted picture data.
