PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that can manage license information and inventory information of a mobile client terminal which is never fixed to a place and client terminal which is not connected to a network just like a client terminal which is always connected to the network. SOLUTION: The assets management server of a software management system obtains inventory information on a management object on a client terminal 130 through cable always connected or radio temporally connected. An agent for collecting the inventory information is provided on a storage medium from which software is installed to the client terminal which is not connected to the network, and the information is taken into the medium 140 when the installment is made to the client terminal. Then, when the medium is loaded into the client terminal connected to the network, the above agent transmits the above information of a stand-alone type terminal to the assets management server.
