PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device having an ink remaining quantity detection method whereby ink in an ink tank can be used without being wasted while a blank printing (printing in the absence of ink) is suppressed. SOLUTION: A dot count threshold from a "small ink remaining quantity" to an "ink absence" is switched in accordance with hysteresis information of an ink consumption quantity per unit time in the neighborhood where the ink tank shifts from an "ink presence" to the "small ink remaining quantity".
