PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metallic ferrule of high accuracy which can be easily manufactured without using a conventional metallic core wire and can reduce the manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: A through-hole for insertion of an optical fiber is formed at a ferrule material 31 by removing the center of the ferrule material 31 together with fibers 13a by using a minuscule drill 41 and a bore finishing tool 42.
