PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and program for collecting the value of an item related to the operating state of a program executed in a computer in detail while suppressing the load of the computer. SOLUTION: When the interval of collecting the value of one item to be monitored is reduced, the intervals of collecting the values of items other than it are increased. When the load of the computer is increased, the intervals of one or more items are increased. An upper limit is provided for the number of items the intervals of which can be reduced simultaneously. When the interval of each item according to the value of the item is fluctuated, the fluctuating range of the interval is changed according to the state of each item or the computer load.
