It is intended to provide an agent for preventing/relieving hair graying and a hair growth promoter by which the activity of follicular melanocytes showing lowered or stopped melanogenetic ability or being in the state of cell death can be accelerated or restored to thereby prevent or relieve hair graying. The above object can be achieved by adding to a hair cosmetic, as an essential component, a rooting sesame extract which is an extract of rooting sesame sprouted and grown under applying temperature shock and/or light irradiation and being reactive with an anti-heat shock protein (HSP) antibody, an anti-fibroblast growth factor (FGF) antibody and/or an anti-melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH) antibody.
