<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately set a gradation conversion characteristic for an image displayed on a display device while depending upon a visual characteristic of an observer. <P>SOLUTION: Four test patterns 21 to 24 are simultaneously displayed on a display part 1 for a computer. There are backgrounds (background) 11-1 to 11-4 and contrast areas 12-1 to 12-4 in the test patterns 21 to 24. Although pixel values of the backgrounds are different among the test patterns 21 to 24, the shapes of the contrast areas are the same. In addition, contrasts between the backgrounds and the respective contrast areas in the test patterns coincide among the test patterns 21 to 24. The contrasts of the contrast areas 12-1 to 12-4 are adjusted so as to make how the respective test patterns look like almost coincide with the pixel values of the backgrounds fixed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
