<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter for a display device which shortens the time for production, suppress splashing of the ink particles jetted from a nozzle and bleeding of the ink, is clear in the pixels shapes of the color filter and is sharp in pixels shapes in a method of forming the color filter for the display device by an ink jet method. <P>SOLUTION: Pattern-like colored layers are formed by applying the colored ink by the ink jet method to an image receiving layer formed on a transparent substrate and further pattern-like light shielding layers are laminated between the pattern-like colored layers.
