PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost on a long-term basis by forming a severely eroded place in an economical and a problem-solvable shape and thereby extending the durability. SOLUTION: The plate for sliding nozzle is provided with a nozzle hole for controlling the pouring quantity of molten steel and is designed such that the radius d<SB>1</SB>with the nozzle hole center X is made 1.5 times as long as the maximum nozzle hole diameter (a), that a distance d<SB>3</SB>from this virtual circle to the nearest end of the plate is made 0.5 times as long as the maximum nozzle hole diameter (a), that a distance d<SB>2</SB>from the fully closed position Y of the plate to the nearest end of the plate is made to be the length of the maximum nozzle hole diameter (a), and that the outer dimensional tolerance in the long and short side directions of the plate is set at±20 mm where X is the center position of the nozzle hole, S is the stroke of the plate, Y is the fully closed position of the plate, and (a) is the maximum nozzle hole diameter. Consequently, since the plate is designed to have an economical shape to the extent that no molten steel leakage is caused, the plate can be given durability in the sliding direction.
