PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the stable and efficient elution of antibacterial metal ions for a long time and the avoidance of the adverse effect as caused by the proliferation of bacteria by adding the generated metal ions to the water for application. SOLUTION: In an ion elution unit 100, a drive circuit 120 applies the voltage between electrodes 113 and 114 to make the metal ions eluted. The polarity of the voltage applied to the electrodes 113 and 114 is inverted cyclically at intervals of the voltage application. The current flowing through the electrodes 113 and 114 is sensed by current sensing circuits 160 and 161. Moreover, the operations of the current sensing circuits 160 and 161 are checked before the start of applying the voltage to the electrodes. The current sensing circuits 160 and 161 start the operation of the detection when a specified time passes after the start of applying the voltage to the electrodes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
