PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for inspecting water quality, capable of solving the problem wherein the water quality inspection performance of a water quality inspection device for inspecting water quality, except for turbidity, has been reduced due to high turbidity water. SOLUTION: A water quality inspection device 21, such as an odor sensor and a turbidity meter 22, are installed at a main pipe 1 for water to be inspected in a bypass state to inspect water quality and measure turbidity. A turbidity value is inputted to a water passage opening/closing device 23. When the turbidity value exceeds the turbidity permissible upper limit value of the water quality inspection device 21, a conduit part 254 connecting the main pipe 1 for water to be inspected to the water quality inspection device 21, is closed to protect the water inspection device 21 from turbidity components according to the instructions from the channel-opening/closing device 23.
