<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device with saved electric power of a display control part and a power saving method. <P>SOLUTION: A personal computer 1 is provided with an LCD6 and a graphic controller 14 controlling output of display data to the LCD6. A 3D engine 32 is provided in the controller 14 for 3D processing. The 3D engine 32 is provided with a geometry engine 41 and a rendering engine 42. When performing 3D processing, at first in the geometry engine 41, polygons themselves are mutated. At this time, the rendering engine 42 is set in a power saving state, and the geometry engine is transited to a power saving state when processing data of the geometry engine 41 are processed by the rendering engine 42.
