PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve so-called winding quality of a cellulose ester film used for a protective film for a polarizing plates required accompanying high productivity (increase of production amount) of liquid crystal display element, namely a polarizing plate used for a liquid crystal display device (LCD) and especially improve occurrence of sticking accident in winding of the film and enable high productivity of protective film for polarizing plates. SOLUTION: In the cellulose ester film, the difference between a refractive index of at least either one surface between surface or rear face of the film after carrying out temperature-controlling and moisture-controlling treatment by allowing the film to stand for 48 hr under the environment conditions of 80°C and 90%RH humidity after production and a refractive index on same side of the same film after allowing the film to stand for 48 hr under the environment conditions of 23°C and 55%RH humidity is≤0.0080, and when preparing the film by a solution casting film-producing method, water content of the film in winding part is kept to≤1.5 wt.%.
