PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of racing in an engine and prevent a driver from having sense of jumping-out when the engine reaches an operation condition from a stop condition. SOLUTION: This power output device is provided with the engine provided with a suction valve and an exhaust valve capable of adjusting opening and closing time, respectively, and a control means for controlling the exhaust valve to quicken timing for opening the exhaust valve if friction generated between slide members constituting the engine is small when starting the engine when compared with the case where friction is large.
