PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the axial dimension of a load detecting apparatus and to enhance the detecting accuracy of a load detecting member. SOLUTION: The load detecting apparatus comprises a driving part, a part to be driven to which the forces in a plurality of different modes are transmitted consequently on the drive of the driving part, a counter force transmission member which is disposed between the driving part and the part to be driven and to which a counter force generated consequently on the transmission of the force in each mode to the part to be driven is applied and the load detecting member of which the prescribed portion is fixed to a fixed part and the other prescribed portion to the counter force transmission member. The load detecting member has a plurality of detecting parts which generate sensor outputs, making them correspond to the forces in the individual modes. Since the sensor output is so generated in each of the detecting parts of the load detecting member as to correspond to the force in each mode in this case, it is unnecessary to provide a plurality of load detecting members for detecting the forces in individual modes.
