PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preferable automatic folding apparatus capable of effectively machining even a separator of an electric double layer capacitor with good yield. SOLUTION: There are provided a means (suction hole 55) for forcing a fixed plate 42 to attract one side of a thin workpiece, a means (suction hole 52) for forcing a rotary plate 50 to attract the opposite side of the thin workpiece, a folding mechanism (a rotary actuator 46 and a flange plate 48) for overlapping opposite ends of the thin workpiece while bending a central portion of the thin workpiece as the rotary plate 50 turns from a developed position thereof with respect to the fixed plate 42 to a folded position thereof covering the fixed plate 42, a folding mechanism (a folding plate 62 and an air cylinder 63) for forming a fold line at the curved center of the thin workpiece, and a means (nozzle 60) for blowing off air toward the inside of the thin workpiece which is bent following the operation of the folding mechanism.
