PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a transmission source apparatus to inform a transmission destination apparatus about an operating state of the transmission source apparatus without using a particular command. SOLUTION: A DV apparatus 10 includes a DIF section 104 for generating and detecting a CIP header with a MODE field and a STATE field. The MODE field is a field for storing a value representing an operating mode of the DV apparatus 10, and the STATE field is a field for storing a value denoting a value such as a reproduction direction and a reproduction speed of the DV apparatus 10.
