PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminous flux irradiation apparatus and an image display device in which the curvature of wave front of a luminous flux is varied at high speed. SOLUTION: A retina scanning type display device 10 is provided with laser output parts 12, 14 and 16 which vary the wavelength of output laser beam, laser varying parts 20, 22, and 24 which vary the curvature of wave front of the laser beam output from the respective laser output parts 12, 14, and 16, when the beam passes the laser varying parts, according to the wavelength of the passing laser beam and a wavelength designation part 42 which outputs respective wavelength designation valuesλr,λg, andλb which are the wavelength values of laser beam to be output from the respective laser output parts 12, 14, and 16 to the the respective laser output parts 12, 14, and 16. Thus, the wavelength designation valuesλr,λg, andλb output to the respective laser output parts 12, 14 and 16 from the wavelength designation part 42 are varied, so that the curvature of wave front of the laser light which passes through the respective laser varying parts 20, 22, and 24 varies at high speed when the wavelength of the laser light output from the respective laser output parts 12, 14 and 16 varies at high speed.
