PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short distance sensor allowing the detection of an object in a short distance. SOLUTION: The short distance sensor comprises a wave motion transmitting means that is connected to a first oscillator and transmitting electromagnetic wave or sonic wave including supersonic wave, a wave motion receiving means receiving the electromagnetic wave or sonic wave reflected by a reflecting matter, and a wave detecting means detecting existence of a signal received by the wave motion receiving means. The wave motion transmitting means and the wave motion receiving means are disposed separately by a predetermined distance. When the electromagnetic wave or sonic wave transmitted from the wave motion transmitting means is reflected by the reflecting matter, and is received by the wave motion receiving means, the wave motion receiving means always receives the electromagnetic wave or sonic wave simultaneously transmitted from the wave motion transmitting means and leaking. When the distance between the wave motion transmitting means or the wave motion receiving means and the reflecting matter is shorter than a predetermined distance, standing wave occurs in the circuit to prevent the wave motion receiving means from receiving the electromagnetic wave or sonic wave.
