<p>A ball and socket joint for a control linkage, e.g. for controlling airflow flaps in a vehicle, has one ball end (5) of a control shaft (10) gripped between the sprung fingers of a forked grip (3a, 3b). To facilitate simple assembly the ball has a radial peg at right angles to the shaft. The assembler positions the peg into a recess (4a) in one fork and, using the shaft as a lever, levers the ball into the forks. To improve the fitting a short peg, or small stub, is fitted to the ball diametrically opposite to the larger peg. This prevents the joint loosening under vibration. The joint and linkage can be made of plastic mouldings.</p> |
