Umbrella pavilion (10) comprises a fixed supporting construction and a superstructure with an awning (18) having an umbrella-like shape covering the supporting construction. The superstructure can be arranged in a transport position with a folded awning in which the pavilion assumes a compact, preferably square shape. The awning is fixed on a central mast (12). When the mast is raised into the position of use the awning is spread out like an umbrella. The mast is lowered into the transport position to produce the compact form of the umbrella pavilion. Preferred Features: Roof arches (15) are pivotably fixed about an axis (19). The awning is fixed on the roof arches.
