The monitoring support roller has a telemetry system for determining operating data, e.g. the rev rate, rotation angle and temperature, with wireless transmission of the data to a remote conveyor control. The sensors and the evaluation and transmission circuits for the detected operating data are incorporated within the support roller, together with an internal power supply, e.g. a generator driven by the rotation of the support roller.
