PURPOSE: A recycled developing roll, a method and device for inspecting the developing roll, a developing roll recycling method and a process cartridge recycling method are provided to effectively recycle a used developing roll and prevent ununiformity of developing density. CONSTITUTION: A recycled developing roll(27) is obtained by collecting a used developing roll and inspecting the developing roll. When the used developing roll has a defect on the surface, the surface roughness of the surface of the developing roll is more than 0.8 micrometer. A method for inspecting the defect on the surface of the developing roll irradiates light on the surface of the developing roll and detects the intensity of light reflected from the developing roll using a light-receiving unit. The inspecting method automatically identifies the surface state of the developing roll based on the output signal of the light-receiving unit.
