PURPOSE: An apparatus for reproducing a skin color of an image signal and a method thereof are provided to normalize a color difference signal value included in an atypical color region into a typical color region, not a specific color, thereby enhancing the reproduction quality of the skin color. CONSTITUTION: In an input pixel value position discriminating unit(30), a distance value calculation unit(34) calculates the distance of a point which has a color difference value of an input pixel on a color coordinate as a coordinate and a point which has an average color difference signal value of the typical color region as a coordinate. A distance value discriminating unit(35) discriminates whether the distance value exists between the width values of the typical color region and the atypical color region. In a normalization pixel value obtaining unit(31), a conversion amount calculation unit(36) calculates the normalized conversion amount from the outermost color signal value of the typical color region in the color difference signal value of the input pixel. A normalization color difference signal calculation unit(37) calculates color difference values(Cba,Cra) normalized the color pixel value of the input pixel from the normalized conversion amount.
