<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate no wasteful standby time or labor to a user even when a copying device is constituted so that switching between a prescribed copy stop mode and a copying mode is possible and is in the copy stop mode. <P>SOLUTION: A state notification request is transmitted (S21) from a personal computer 30 to the copying device and a state ("in operation" (copyable state) or "in halt" (copy halt state)) at this time is returned (S13, S17) from the copying device in response to transmission.
