<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for effectively processing data communication by a plurality of communication protocols. <P>SOLUTION: In an internet telephone device 100, when a network interface unit 130 receives a packet, a protocol detecting unit 176 detects the packet whether a TCP packet or a UDP packet. When the packet is detected as the TCP packet, a CPU 110, which is a general circuit, performs a packet process by software. When the packet is detected as the UDP packet, a UDP processing unit 174, which is a special circuit, performs the packet process.
