PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection sensor which enables adaption of detection characteristics of the position detection sensor to a surrounding condition by a cheap method, and the position detection sensor can meet a narrow width dimension requirement for a mounting. SOLUTION: When a magnetic material 6 is so separated beyond a predetermined distance that the position detection sensor 10 cannot detect the magnetic material, a magnetic flux density which is passing through a magnetic detection element 5 is set larger than the magnetic flux density, with a level larger than a predetermined value, which is passing through the magnetic detection element 5, when the magnetic material is located at a detectable position in close vicinity to a position located within a predetermined distance from at least one side of the position detection sensor 10.
