PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient, quick and sensitive trace amount assay method. SOLUTION: The trace amount assay method, for implementing an affinity reaction between a target material in a sample and a receptor couplable to the target material, by using a small area membrane in a minute quantity reaction vessel, is provided with a step of taking a trace amount of the sample, loading it on the membrane and attaching the target material in the sample to the membrane (1); a step of placing the membrane into the trace amount reaction vessel and adding a solution containing an antibody (the receptor) couplable to the target material (2); a step of incubating the target material attached to the membrane for a sufficient time, until the target material is combined with the receptor by the affinity reaction and forming a target material-receptor complex (3); and a step of detecting the target material-receptor complex (4).
