PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission which materializes stable high speed rotation by equipping an ideal disk which materializes lightweighting while accurately machining a traction surface and an inside diameter part. SOLUTION: The toroidal type continuously variable transmission is composed so as to infinitely change a transmission gear ratio between both disks by tilted rotation of a power roller interposed between input disks 4, 5 and output disks 6, 7 which are arranged opposite to each other. A rotation detecting ring 20 provided with a uneven teeth 21 on an outer peripheral surface is force-fitted in the outer periphery 4a of the input disk 4 after being manufactured separately from the input disk 4.
