PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter circuit and technology for power supply electromagnetic interference (EMI). SOLUTION: In an embodiment, a method for performing filtering of EMI by a power supply includes a step of rectifying AC signal in a rectifier, a step of smoothing the rectified signal by a capacitor of large capacity to supply a DC output as an input to a power converter circuit, and a step of using as an EMI filter the capacitor of large capacity and a single or a plurality of inductors combined with AC power supply capacitance to remove, by the filtering the EMI generated by the power converter circuit so as to prevent it from reaching an AC power supply. In another embodiment, the method also includes using a single or a plurality of the inductors as a fuse element for satisfying safety standards. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
