<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image processing method capable of realizing processing suitable for a stereoscopic image while using a conventional coding technique as a base, and to provide a program and a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: Discrete cosine transform is applied to an original image in which right and left images are alternately arranged like vertical stripes. The result of converting the original image clearly shows that an upper right coefficient indicating a high-frequency component in a horizontal direction is large. Accordingly, for example, a coefficient having an absolute value smaller than eight is set at zero to generate a part having high redundancy (many zeros) while leaving the upper right coefficient, thereby reducing information quantity. By reducing the information quantity so that the portion of the high-frequency component, each pixel value at the time of reproduction is the same as the original pixel value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
