摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling method and device capable of realizing reliable and smooth clutch engagement. <P>SOLUTION: For example, the engaging characteristics of an electromagnetic friction clutch pack assembly 110 situated in a transfer case 16 of an automobile are improved in particular when a static friction mode and a dynamic friction mode are switched by superposing a random noise signal on a smooth analogue signal or a step-like digital signal. A controller for a clutch and a driver have a random noise (signal) generator 66 and an output from the random signal generator 66 is superposed on the output of the controller generated in response to signals from various sensors situated at a car. When a clutch is engaged according to the software of a controller through an input of the controller, an engagement signal having both a drive part and a smaller random noise part is supplied to an electromagnetic clutch operator.
