PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a therapeutic agent for an infectious disease caused by a drug resistant bacterium by administering a material inducing in-vivo secretion of an antimicrobial peptide. SOLUTION: This therapeutic agent for the infectious disease caused by the drug resistant bacterium contains at least one kind of a branched essential amino acid selected from isoleucine, leucine and valine as an active ingredient. The disease caused by the drug resistant bacterium is the infectious disease caused by a methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a methicillin resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE), a vancomycin resistant Enterococcus (VRE) or a penicillin resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP). A method for using the branched essential amino acid for curing the infectious disease caused by the drug resistant bacterium comprises enabling the antimicrobial peptide to be secreted in vivo to manifest the antimicrobial activities.
