PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the damage of a motor even when the external force acts on an operating member. SOLUTION: This derailleur for a bicycle comprises a base member 400 for mounting the derailleur on the bicycle, a variable member 456 for supporting a chain guide, linkage mechanisms 440, 444 for connecting the base member and the movable member in a state that the movable member is movable to the base member, an operation arm 716, and power accumulating mechanisms 704, 712. The operation arm is electrically driven and connected to the linkage mechanisms, so that the movable member is laterally moved toward the bicycle as a result of the driving of the operation arm in the first direction, and is laterally moved in the direction separating from the bicycle as a result of the driving of the operation arm in the second direction. The power accumulating means is mounted on a power transmitting passage of the operation arm and the movable member, and accumulates the power relatively acting on the operation arm and the movable member.
