PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rooftop greening method comprising greening the rooftop of a building so as to prevent global warming, decreasing air-conditioning costs of the building via heat insulation effect by the greening, and easily reducing load on the rooftop. SOLUTION: This rooftop greening method comprises the following process: filling up first soil on a rooftop, putting plural containers where plants are planted, filling up second soil around the containers, and growing the plants in the containers. The containers are each structured as follows: at least one side surface comprises an easily decomposable filmy body or a filmy body having a plurality of through holes, and the true specific gravity of the second soil is smaller than that of the first soil.
